How To Reduce Neck And Back Pain

How To Reduce Neck And Back Pain

So many people suffer from neck and back pain these days, and the reason is a simple one - our lifestyles are often quite sedentary. Many jobs entail sitting at a desk and looking at a screen all day, and that’s going to take its toll on our bodies. When you add the fact that many people are stressed out, and stress causes neck and back pain as well (because the muscles get too tense), it’s no surprise that this is such a big problem.

Luckily, it doesn’t have to be because there are various things you can do to reduce (and ideally eliminate) neck and back pain altogether. With that in mind, here are some options to try out.

Improve Your Posture

One of the biggest reasons for a bad back and a painful neck is poor posture—we’re often slouching or hunched over, which strains the muscles and leads to discomfort over time. Therefore, it makes sense to improve your posture. Although it might take some practice because you’ll be so used to your old posture, it’s well worth it when your back and neck feel so much better.

Start by making sure you make a conscious effort to sit up straight at all times, whether you’re sitting at your desk or watching TV - or anything else. Keep your shoulders back and keep your spine straight, and it will help. It’s also wise to invest in ergonomic furniture when you’re working so you can feel more comfortable and your body is ‘persuaded’ to sit in the right way, which will also reduce pain.

Massage Therapy

Something else that can help a lot when you’ve got a sore back or neck is to have a massage. Massages alleviate tension and loosen tight muscles, giving you the relief you’re looking for. Massages are great for making you feel relaxed and less tense as well, which means your muscles won’t be so tense, which we’ve seen is a cause of the pain in the first place.

Massage also helps to improve your circulation because it increases the blood flow in your body, which means you’re various body parts are getting more oxygen and fewer toxins, and that will also reduce pain.

CBD

Although CBD & THC products for pain won’t be something everyone wants to try, for those who do, it can be a wonderful way to reduce back and neck pain in a simple way that you can do yourself at home (unlike a massage) and doesn’t cost too much (unlike ergonomic furniture). Even if you do want to do those other things as well, taking CBD products is a great place to start.

CBD has anti-inflammatory properties, which means it reduces swelling, which in turn can reduce the pain you’re feeling. It also interacts with receptors in the endocannabinoid system, which sounds complicated but really just means you’ll get relief from pain, which is the ultimate goal. As a bonus, many people find CBD relaxing and stress-reducing, so it could be something you want to try out.
